New Year, New Start

OK time to stop stalling. I know that at the start of a new year everyone makes resolutions. I along with everyone else make them and can't seem to even remember what mine was come March and April. So this year I decided to take it in small steps and try daily goals. I started with goals toward getting my home cleaned up after all the holiday madness and getting things organized to give our family a fresh start for this year. This included purging clothes, toys, books, really anything that has not been used in 6 months or more. Also Saul and I both know we need to do something to better our physical selves so we have embarked on better eating habits. I don't want to say that I started a diet because diets have never worked for me in the past, so I am just trying my best to make better choices for my self and our family. Saul and I are also trying to get back on board with our spiritual life as well and are attending a new church together as a family. So far so good. I am attempting to take this day by day instead of trying to start it all at once and get overwhelmed. A few things personally that I am doing to better myself include taking a photography workshop so that I can better use my camera and take pictures that I enjoy. I also plan on starting back to the gym on a regular basis. A friend of mine got a membership to the gym I go to and we have kids the same age so hopefully we can get in a regular routine of going together to get ourselves healthier for our families. Well daily duties of dishes and laundry are calling so I must close, but here is to a new year with new possibilities.

Busy Life

Well the Hernandez family has been a little busy lately so I am failing in the blogging department.
Life is great just really busy. Saul has a lot going on at work and being the boss means lots of long hours. Simon is growing like a weed and changing every day. It's amazing to see the new things he is interested in and the new words he is learning every day. As for me I am just trying to hold our little life together and trying to keep things running smoothly while keeping my sanity.
Saul and I just celebrated four amazing years of marriage with a little trip to Las Vegas! It was a blast! It was my first time to stay in vegas and be able to enjoy what they have to offer. We ate some great food, did a little gambling, and got to see a show. It is defentially on our list of places we would like to return to.
Thanksgiving was nice. We had the chance to spend the day with Saul's family and a few close friends. I am truely thankful for our little life here and wouldn't change a thing about it.
The Christmas season is fully apon us and I feel I am getting pretty close to being done with my shopping, and by "my shopping" I mean shopping for everyone but myself. Saul does not want anything to do with shopping and usually waits until the very last second to get out and get the things he needs to shop for. We are having an ugly sweater party Saturday the 18th so this week will be spent cleaning and getting things ready for that. I also need to start wraping gifts. I doubt that I am going to get to take one entire day to wrap since Simon is into everything and wants to be in the middle of everything I am doing.
We will see how everything turns out and hopefully I can post some pics from the sweater party before Christmas.

Halloween

Simon did pretty good for his first real trick or treat. Last year we dressed him up for the tailgate since Halloween fell on a game day but that was about it.

Scrapbook pages from last halloween
This year we took him around to some of our friends houses so they could see him all dressed up then headed home to let him "help" hand out candy.

Carrying the pumpkin full of loot!

Do I really want to do this

Really mom more pictures

Gotta love the tail

playing in the leaves

I promise he put himself in the cage, he plays in there every time we go to the Nickens house.

Over all I think we had a pretty good evening, next year should be even more fun when he can actually ask for candy.

Pumpkin patch

This past sunday we got to go to Maxwells Pumpkin Farm. It was a blast, there are still quite a few things Simon is not big enough for but the things he could do he really enjoyed. Since we went at the end of their season most of the pumpkins were picke over so we had to stop at united on the way back to get some goos carving pumpkins. After we got the pumpkins we headed to the Nickens's home for dinner, carving pumpkins, and SMORES yummy! It was a great evening and defentially something we will have to do again int the future.

Short Update

Life as always has been crazy and time is just speeding by me these days. I don't have much time to get this in but hopefully after this weekend I will have a chance for  a proper update. Simon and I began going to stroller strides and we love it! It is a great chance to get out and meet new mom's and other babies and for this mommie to get in a little workout. Most of my time though over the last few weeks has been devoted to getting things ready for a baby shower I am hosting at my house this saturday. For my type A personality this means lots of lists and things that have to get done. I am down to the wire so I got up early this morning to get a jump on things before the little man wakes up. So hopefully next week I will sit down and write a great update with lots of pics from the baby shower, stroller strides, and our little trip to the pumpkin farm the we plan to take on Sunday. Until then...

FOOTBALL!!!!!

Anyone who know us knows how much we look foreward to college football season. It truly is one of my most favorite times of year (although that seems to be changing as Simon grows and discovers new things that we get to do as a family). Our season tickets came in at the first of August this year and I think I was more excited about it that Saul was, time to start planning tailgates! Being the hostess that I am I really enjoy throwing great tailgates for all our friends to enjoy, and of course Saul thinks I plan way to much and should just relax about the whole thing, oh well what can I say that type A person I am shines in all its glory any time I get to plan a party.
This is the first season that we have had to pay to park but it has turned out to be a pretty good deal. There are only a few other people in our lot who tailgate and none of them get into it as much as we do. We have a great space to hang out before the game and since we are directly accross from the student union bldg. we have clean bathrooms!!!!! I don't know about anyone else but I think the bathroom situation was worth the money to park! Also our walk to the stadium is much shorter this year which is a plus. So far we have had a great tailgating season even though our team hasen't done their best. Here are a few pics of our first few tailgates.
